THIS is a warning: Nothing in here is blog worthy. It's about as useless a wart on a log.
Lately I feel like I need a two-hour nap every hour, on the hour. I'm not exactly THAT busy, just tired like an elderly lady trying to mask her boo-coos of vericose veins with a calamime cream.
It's a combo of going back to work, trying to organize my empty house, and starting to run again in THIS bunzippity-do-da cold (OK, cold for Mexico). Not to mention I stopped my absurd soda intake. THAT was probably a ginormous mistake. But who wants kidney stones? I'm petrified of birthing a little rock baby.
Somebody teach me how to like coffee. Please? The amount of sugar I slapped into my mug THIS morning reached diabolic diabetic levels. I have to go all Braveheart on the stuff if I actually want to put the bitter, grown-up drink in my mouth. Freeeeedoooomm!
The hus-bun is too much of a coffee snob to help this coffee noob. I want to like it; I really really do. But everything in my fetus taster-buds is crying out in pain. I mean, how many times do you have to force feed myself until I've acquired THAT seemingly acquirable taste?
My idea of coffee is this chocolately mocha chunk stuff, which is probably worse for me than a large Dr Pepper every day. Somebody help.
I can't tell you how many times I've tried to like coffee! I just can't do it! One bitter taste and I'm done! I just can't bear that taste! Yuck! It should be a sin to taste that bitter! I love me some starbucks but not for coffee, I like the chocolate chip frap and also their cake pops/whoopie pies!
ReplyDeleteI've tried to like coffee as well, but no matter how much sugar/creamer/chocolate/milk/combo of all I've added, I can't choke it down. I like the coffee drinks that taste nothing like coffee, but in turn have like a million calories to account for. ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh I don't like coffee either! And I've had kidney stones, multiple times and I don't even drink soda. Trust me, not fun! Drink water :)
ReplyDeleteMy family is crazy about coffee but my sister gets kidney stones all the time. Coffee and high caffeine intake can actually make them worse so my vote is if you want to avoid kidney stones and don't like coffee, just don't drink it! I stick mostly to hot tea - it's way better for you and there are so many flavors, you're guaranteed to find one you like. Plus...tea is cool. And chai...chai is 100% the way to go! If you've never had it...well...i would be at a loss for words.
ReplyDeleteHa! I so get this Jena! I actually love coffee BUT only if I make it like diabetes in a cup (full of sugar and cream) so I just stay away from it. I also gave up soda last year, it's rough and I relapse ever so often, but I'm learning to love water, juice and tea to the point where I hardly think about soda now. You'll get there!!!

Have you tried a peppermint mocha? or vanilla latte?? try those, then get back to me. ;) you can always have them add an extra pump of syrup to make it less strong! or just drink hella red bulls. ha

ReplyDeleteThey're so good.. a little strong at first but that became my favorite coffee drink. Iced caramel macchiato is delicious too!!
Coffee is definitely a required taste but you will learn to love it! :0

BAHAHA I am still laughing that you refer to this as Mexico ( we do too). What is up with this weather? I cannot take OOTD pictures with a coat on. It hides my outfit!?!? lol Ok so I learned how to drink coffee while living in Costa Rica. Started drink black and strong. My advice would be to go try the coffee at Magnolia Pancake Hause off 281 and Bitters. They serve a Dutch coffee there (Douwe Eggberts or something like that) and it is SUPER smooth. Not bitter like Starbucks. If you like it you can order it off Amazon.
ReplyDeleteI don't do coffee, either, and Mark is a coffee snob. He grinds his own beans and uses a french press. Crazy guy. I do, however, like hot tea. I always tried to stay away from coffee because I didn't want my energy to come from an outside stimulant. I bet once you have been off of pop/caffeine for a while your body will adjust and you will have great energy as long as you are sleeping enough and exercising regularly, which we all know you are. That would be my tip - get your energy naturally from your young awesome body and not caffeine! (-:

ReplyDeleteAll I'm saying... is white chocolate mocha frappucino from Starbucks. For the win.
ReplyDeleteI use vanilla almond milk (regular is good too) as a sweetener and I never have to add any sugar (usually I put 3-4 scoops!), it is healthier and tastes so much better. Actually my favorite is almond milk with Nescafe instant coffee--ICED. It is SO GOOD. I keep drinking it even though it is FREEZING here.

ReplyDeleteI almost wish I didn't like coffee, I amz addicted. If I don't have a cup FIRST thing in the morning I get a raging headache that only going to bed and starting the next day can get rid of.

ReplyDeleteI'm a coffee addict. It was the hardest thing to give up when I was pregnant. Maybe you should try green tea instead of coffee for a caffeine boost. People say it works just as good, and suppose to be better for you.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness... we just found this trick this morning and it is heavenly!!! Add cinnamon to the coffee grounds before brewing. Then, of course you have to add tons of creamer and sugar to your mug before pouring, but oh how fabulous it will be!! A MUST try!!!
